LEAL Litigation and LEAL NGO share a common mission

The strategic defense of human rights worldwide, but they operate in different ways depending on the needs of each case.

Mission

At LEAL Litigation, we defend human rights through two main areas of work:

International litigation:

Representing victims before the IACHR, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, UN Committees and Special Procedures, INTERPOL, and other bodies.

Strategic advocacy

Representing victims before the IACHR, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, UN Committees and Special Procedures, INTERPOL, and other bodies.

Since 2018, she has focused her practice on the defense of human rights, with an emphasis on the protection of politically persecuted persons and prisoners of conscience in Ecuador and Latin America. She has represented victims before the Inter-American Court and Commission on Human Rights, United Nations Committees and Special Procedures, as well as before Interpol in politically motivated Red Notice cases.

With over 15 years of experience, she held key responsibilities in Ecuador: advisor to the Legal Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, the National Water Secretariat, policy director at the Ministry of Labor Relations, general counsel at the Superintendency of Companies, deputy secretary at the Electoral Litigation Tribunal, advisor to the National Electoral Council, and advisor to the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Oversight. She was also an anti-corruption expert for the United Nations (2011–2013).

She has consolidated her international experience in Europe, collaborating with human rights organizations in Spain, Italy, France, Norway, and Germany.

She is a co-founder of LEAL. Her doctoral thesis addresses: “Constitutional Ruptures and Lawfare: A Study on Democratic Devolution in Ecuador (2017–2025).”

Ecuadorian and spanish, she graduated from the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, holds a Master’s degree in Administrative Law from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Citizenship and Human Rights at the University of Barcelona.

Pauline Ogier

French jurist

She holds a Master’s degree in International and European Law with a specialization in Human Rights, and a University Diploma in International Humanitarian Law. With over eight years of experience in humanitarian aid and international human rights advocacy, she has held positions in non-governmental organizations and law firms, specializing in international criminal law, international human rights law, european human rights law, and international humanitarian law.

She conducts strategic actions before the Inter-American Commission and Court of Human Rights, the United Nations Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies, as well as before the Interpol Files Control Commission, representing victims of arbitrary detention, violations based on gender and judicial manipulation.

She has been head of the advocacy department of an NGO, participated in monitoring humanitarian projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chile, Colombia, and France, contributed as a lawyer to a Peruvian NGO.

As a cofunder of LEAL and coordinator of a network of five European civil society organizations in Spain, Italy, France, Norway, and Germany, she created a legal observatory on human rights violations and participated as a speaker at conferences in Europe.

Her profile combines legal experience, experience in civil society, strategic vision, and a strong commitment to the defense of fundamental freedoms, reparation for harm, and recognition of victim status.
